Spot the Scam: How to Identify and Avoid Scam Links

Security isn’t just about code and encryption. It’s about staying one step ahead of the tactics scammers use to gain your trust. At RedotPay, we work 24/7 to secure your transactions, but the strongest defense is an informed user.

Digital payments should be simple: you tap, you send, and you move on with your day. Scammers try to break that simplicity by pretending to be brands you trust, using “lookalike” links to steal your login info or your funds.

This guide is designed to help you recognize what’s real, what’s fake, and where to find RedotPay’s official channels.

Urgency and Trust: How Many Scams Start

Most scams start with a sense of urgency. You might receive a message claiming there is a “problem” with your account, a “security alert,” or a “limited-time reward” that requires immediate action.

Scammers use brand logos and fake verification badges to appear official, but their goal is to make you panic. If you ever feel pressured to act within minutes to avoid “losing access,” take a breath. Genuine financial services will never punish you for taking the time to verify a request.

Your First Line of Defense

The most common tool in a scammer’s kit is the fraudulent link. A single tap can take you to a website that looks identical to our login page, but everything you type goes straight to an attacker. Look for these red flags:

Spelling errors: Small differences like “Redot-Pay” or “Red0tPay.”

Unexpected sources: Links shared only in private group chats or unsolicited DMs.If you are asked to log in or enter a code after clicking a link from an unfamiliar source, close the page immediately. The safest path is to open the RedotPay app directly or use our official link hub: https://linktr.ee/RedotPay.

Red Flags in DMs and “Support” Messages

Social media and messaging apps are popular playgrounds for scammers. A common pattern is someone reaching out to you first, claiming to be “support” or an “official representative” offering to help you resolve an issue or unlock a benefit.

Legitimate support teams do not initiate conversations in private messages to ask for sensitive information. Any request for passwords, codes, or payments via DM is a definitive red flag. The same applies to giveaways or airdrops. If it wasn’t announced on our official channels (found via our Linktree), it isn’t real.

What RedotPay Will Never Ask For

A key layer of protection is knowing the boundaries of a trusted service. RedotPay will never ask you for:

  • A transfer of funds to “test,” “verify,” or “unlock” your account.
  • Your password or PIN.
  • One-time passcodes (OTP) or 2FA codes.
  • Your Seed Phrase or private keys.

What to Do if Something Feels Wrong
